The son of an underground miner from Chisholm, Minnesota, Jim Oberstar has been a member of the Transportation and Infrastructure Committee since coming to Congress in 1975 and has been the Senior Democrat on the Committee since 1995. Jim has worked tirelessly to improve safety standards and efficiencies for the traveling public.
