There will be detours and delays, but maybe this year we don't care so much. Congressman James Oberstar -- he of the House Transportation Committee czarship -- reports that there will be record levels of road construction this summer in his district, thanks to the stimulus funds.

A total of $105 million will be spent on 33 projects district-wide. The projects range from an $18 million resurfacing of Highway 53 from Independence to Highway 194 to a $5 million project to add new pavement, turn lanes and bypass lanes to Highway 65 north of McGregor.
